I believe research and advocacy are intertwined. I have chosen to highlight, volunteer, and donate to these specific programs based off of my own research interests and experiences. Click to support the organizations below:
The Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA) is a Black women-led cross-sectoral alliance that centers Black mamas and birthing people to advocate, drive research, build power, and shift culture for Black maternal health, rights, and justice.
The mission of Birthing Cultural Rigor, LLC is to improve the quality, safety, and value of health care experiences (“improvement science”) and facilitate community and health system uptake of evidence, empathy, and equity based interventions into any policy, process, practice, procedure, program or publication that affects human beings and their health, with a focus on advancing equity, justice and liberation of Black women, girls, gender expansive individuals, and their given and chosen family (“implementation science”).
MAC envisions a world in which all people have access to safe, free, legal abortions wherever they live. As a practical abortion fund, MAC helps people traveling to, from, and within the Midwest access a safe abortion by assisting with travel coordination and costs, lodging, food, medicine, and childcare.
The Immigrant Defense Project (IDP) was founded almost 30 years ago to combat an emerging human rights crisis: the targeting of immigrants for mass imprisonment and deportation.
